ল্যান্ডষ্টেইনার ABO সিস্টেমে ব্লাড গ্রুপ করার পদ্ধতি ১৯০১ সালে নির্ণয় করেন । এছাড়া Rh, লুইস, ডাফি ইত্যাদি পদ্ধতিতে রক্তের গ্র“পিং করা হয়েছে । সকল মানুষের রক্ত এক রকম নয়। বিজ্ঞানীরা বিভিন্ন পদ্ধতিতে রক্তকে বিভিন্ন গ্রুপে বিভক্ত করেছেন। তবে ২ টি পদ্ধতি জনপ্রিয়
১) এ. বি. ও পদ্ধতি (A.B.O System):
এ পদ্ধতিতে সমস্ত মানুষের রক্ত ৪ টি গ্র“পে ভাগ করা হয়।
- এ (A),
- বি (B),
- ও (O)
- এবি (AB)
২) আর. এইচ পদ্ধতি (Rh System):
এ পদ্ধতিতে ২ ভাগে ভাগ করা হয়।
- ১) আর. এইচ পজিটিভ (Rh + Ve),
- ২) আর. এইচ নেগেটিভ (RH – Ve)।
ABO এবং Rh সিস্টেমের কম্বিনেশনে মানবদেহের রক্তের গ্রুপ নির্ধারিত হয়।
ABO সিস্টেমে গ্রুপ চারটি :
- ১) A (এ) যার রক্তরসে এ এনিটজেন আছে,
- ২) B (বি) যার রক্তরসে বি এন্টিজেন আছে,
- ৩) AB (এবি) যার রক্তরসে উভয় এন্টিজেন আছে,
- ৪) O (ও) যার রক্তরসে কোন এন্টিজেন নাই।
Rh সিস্টেমে ২ ধরনের এন্টিজেন
- পজিটিভ (+) অর্থ যার Rh এন্টিজেন আছে।
- নেগেটিভ (-) অর্থ যার Rh এন্টিজেন নাই ।
বাংলাদেশে প্রায় ৮৫ ভাগ লোকের Rh এন্টিজেন আছে। উদাহরণ A+ এ পজিটিভ রক্তের গ্র“প, অর্থ যার রক্তে এ এবং Rh এন্টিজেন আছে। AB – Ve (এবি নেগেটিভ) যার রক্তে এবি এন্টিজেন আছে কিন্তু Rh এন্টিজেন নাই। O- Ve ও নেগেটিভ যার রক্তে এ বি কিংবা Rh এন্টিজেন কোনটিই নাই।
তবে আমরা সাধারণত বলি O+ Ve (ও পজিটিভ), AB – Ve (এবি নেগেটিভ) ইত্যাদি। এক জনের রক্ত গ্র“প না মিললে অপরকে দেয়া নিষেধ। রক্ত যে কোর সুস্থ মানুষ (যার বয়স ১৮ থেকে ৫০ এর মধ্যে) দান করতে পারে প্রতি ৪ মাস অন্তর। এবি নেগেটিভ অত্যন্ত দুষ্প্রাপ্য শ্রেণীর রক্ত।
